BTS Video: Mountain Khakis Winter Catalog Shoot

I do love my job! This video gives a great behind-the-scenes look at how much fun we have when out on the Mountain Khakis Catalog shoots. Enjoy!

Interview with Shoot to Earn

From tearful frustration to triumphant success, I get up close and personal in the video interview above…it offers unique insight into my career journey thus far…

Background: I had the great fortune of working with talented wedding and lifestyle photographer Aaron Dieppa during a week-long ad shoot for Manfrotto earlier this year. In addition to his great taste in hair-style ;), he has a very enterprising mind and has recently launched an awesome website that will serve as an inspirational resource to budding photographers and experienced pros for years to come.He discusses about his career and offers tips plus he is part of family photographers adelaide

Check out www.shoottoearn.com for interviews with established photographers from portrait to landscape to advertising to…you name it.

I’m honored to be one of Aaron’s first interviews. It’s definitely lengthy, but I’d like to think it’s worth a lunch break or long car ride. Enjoy!

BTS Video: Album Cover Shoot with Bass-Baritone Bryn Terfel

BTS w AdamBarkerPhotography and Deutsche Grammophon from AdamBarkerPhoto on Vimeo.

I was approached several weeks ago by German music label Deutsche Grammophon about possibly shooting some work for an album cover for one of their classical artists, Welsh opera singer Bryn Terfel. It all came together very quickly, as the shoot was just two weeks away or so upon initial contact. The work would be primarily environmental portrait work shot on location. I quickly pieced together some scouting images from a number of different locations and, upon a scouting trip with the VP of DG, we settled on Antelope Island State Park. In my opinion, it offers some of the greatest sunset light anywhere on earth! Despite hoards of biting gnats, the shoot went off without a hitch, thanks in large part to great planning and preparation with producer Samantha Mitchell.

The pressure was on! Especially given the fact that Bryn would be available for only a VERY limited amount of time. Between album recording sessions with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and many other commitments, I only had about 90 minutes total with Bryn on this shoot. However, when everyone is firing on all pistons, and Mother Nature cooperates, 90 minutes is more than enough to produce the goods. Check out the video above for an exclusive ticket behind the scenes at this particular shoot!

Video: We Speak as One…

So pleased to share my favorite video produced from a shoot for the new Manfrotto BeFree tripod. We spent a week traveling to some of the most iconic photography locations in California–it was a dream job, with unbelievable locations and even better teammates. This video was produced by The Bui Bros–mad skills! Check out the full BeFree campaign here, and stay tuned for an in-depth blog post on the entire experience.

BTS Video: Mountain Khakis Catalog Shoot

I had the pleasure of working with lifestyle apparel brand Mountain Khakis this past summer, capturing a slew of imagery featuring their 2013 Spring/Summer product line. We had a jam-packed two days of shooting in several different locations in northern Utah, including Park City, Uinta National Forest and the rural farming paradise of Oakley. It was an absolute blast, and we ended up producing some killer images. Check out the case study on adambarkerphotography.com for imagery from the shoot

What is AdamBarkerPhotography??? (video)

Who am I? What do I do? Where have I been? Have a look-see at the video. Thanks for stopping by…

I’m Not A Studio Photographer…(Subaru Edit)

What can I say??? I love my car, and I’m a sucker for good video. Many thanks to my assistant Nate Sorensen and NS Innovative for the killer edit. This was filmed over several days in the Palouse region of eastern Washington. It served as a fun project to work on, especially when conditions weren’t overly conducive to stellar landscape photography. And of course, huge thanks goes out to my vehicle sponsor, Mark Miller Subaru for their support!

BTS Video: Lifestraw Commercial Shoot

We recently traveled south to Moab, UT on a location shoot for Lifestraw. If you’ve never heard of this amazing little water filter before, be sure to check it out. And enjoy the video! (many thanks to my assistant Nate Sorensen for putting this together!)

Snippet: AdamBarkerPhotography/Telluride Photo Festival 2011

Here’s a quick look inside (well, really, outside!) my workshop at the 2011 Telluride Photo Festival. As always, many thanks to my sponsors Mark Miller Subaru, Arc’teryx, Mountain Khakis, Singh Ray Filters, Manfrotto School of Xcellence and Clikelite Backpacks. Many thanks to my assistant Nate Sorensen for putting the video together!

ABP Showcase Slideshow: Environmental Active Lifestyle Imagery

I had a blast at the recent PDN Outdoor Photo Expo here in Salt Lake City. It was fantastic to attend seminars by many other talented photographers, and I had a great turnout to my presentation as well. For all those who couldn’t make it, I’ve included my feature slideshow below. The focus of my seminar was on the fusion of scenic landscape and active lifestyle imagery. Hint: Get the HD uploading, take a lunch/snooze/whatever break, and enjoy the show when you get back!
